Installation of Windows XP
Released on October 25, 2001, Microsoft Windows XP is a widely used and most populated operating system all over the world. Windows Xp has two versions, the two most commonly used versions are:
1. Home Edition, which is intended to succeed the Windows 95, 98, and Me family.
2. Professional Edition, which is intended to succeed the Windows NT and 2000 family.
Note: Microsoft has announced that it will provide security patches and updates to Windows XP until April 2014.
Minimum hardware requirements for xp home edition.
- The minimum hardware requirements for Windows XP Home Edition are:
- 233 MHz processor or faster (300 MHz is recommended).
- At least 64 megabytes (MB) of RAM (128 MB is recommended).
- At least 1.5 gigabytes (GB) of available space on the hard disk.
- CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.
- Keyboard, Mouse and some other compatible pointing device.
- Sound card. (Not Necessary)
- Speakers or headphones. (Not Necessary)
- Video adapter and monitor with Super VGA (800 x 600)or higher resolution.
Minimum hardware requirements for xp Professional.

Essential Requirement
-Personal Computer.
-CD/DVD Rom Drive
-Bootable Wndiwos Xp CD/DVD.
Now get ready
Ensure that, Your CD/DVD Rom Drive selected as your first boot device.If so, well. Otherwise do that.
-Insert Your bootable CD/DVD of Windows Xp into your CD/DVD Rom Drive.
-Now reboot your Computer
When restaring, a window will come with the message of “Press any key to boot from CD/DVD”. Then press “Enter key” or any others key.
Now your setup will start. Few time computer will work for itself. When you get below’s screen then you will start your work.
1. To setup Windows Xp now, Press enter.
2. To repair a Windows Xp Installation using recovery console, Press R.
3. To quit setup without installation Windows Xp, Press Q.
You know we are going to setup Windows Xp. For this reason we will select first option, that’s means we will press enter & we won’t until getting below’s screen.
When you get above screen, Then press F8. Again you won’t untill getting below’s screen.
This screen is an important screen. We will learn here, how to create & delete a partition. We also create partition from here. There also has three option. They are:
1. To setup Windows Xp on the selected item, Press enter.
2. To creat a partition in the unpartitioned space, Press C.
3. To delete the selected partition, Press D.
If you’re installing on a hard disk that was previously used, then partitions will exist. But we would like to learn, that’s why we will create partition. To create partition, press C. Then below screen will come.
After pressing C, we will now be given an option to choose the size for our partition. This is an important step. Please enter your drive size in selected place (highlighted in white) by MB, Then press enter key. You can create many partition like this.
After creating partition, we have to install windows xp in a particular drive, like “C” or “D”. Here we use C drive to install windows xp. So, Select “C” drive by moving arrow keys, as like a below screen.
Now press enter to start install. Befor starting install you will get a formatting option. That option is displayed below screen.
There has four option. they are:
1. Format the partition using the NTFS file system (quick).
2. Format the partition using the FAT file system (quick).
3. Format the partition using the NTFS file system.
4. Format the partition using the FAT file system.
All of them we will select the third option. Because security of “NTFS file system” is very well. So press enter. Now formatting will start. Formatting will take some time, depending on the disk size. It can take several minutes. Disk is formatting at below screen.
After formatting setup will copy to your primary menory like below screen. Actually you won’t have to do anything that time.
After the files are successfully copied, the system will reboot. You can wait a few seconds or press enter key to speed up the process. When rebooting your system, you will get a massage of “Press any key to boot form CD/DVD” again. Please don’t hit any key that time. After the reboot, the setup will start installing Windows. You will be able to move your mouse and read on-screen tips while the setup configures the system. You will also be able to tell the approximate time needed for the setup to complete.
Setup is again starting above screen. You won’t have to do anything until getting below screen.
Click next button. You will be asked for your Name and organization.
You can use here anything as your choice. We use here “USER” as Name. Then click Next. Now you will be asked for the product keys.
Please input your License Product Key. It should be included with your Windows XP installation CD. Now click Next button. You will be given below screen.
Click Next button. Also you can enter here a strong password as your Administrator password.
This step to set up your local date & time. Please do it hurry and click Next button. 
Again the setup will continue to install for a few minutes. The next step will be to configure your Networking settings
Select “Typical setting” and click Next button. Windows xp setup will continue again like below screen.
The setup will continue again. Please don’t go to anything untill getting below display setting screen.
When you will get above screen, Click ok. Frequently you will get below screen of monitor setting.
Click Ok to continue. Finally, you will reach the Welcome screen.
Click Next to continue.
There has two option. They are:
1. Help protect my PC by turning on automatic update now.
2. Not right now.
Here we will select “Not right now” and click Next.
Now you will be asked for your Internet connection
You can configure your Internet connection option here. But now we will skip this option. You will also be avail to configure your Internet connection option next time. So click “skip” option. Now, you will be asked to register. Even if you want to do that, now is not the time. You can do it later.
Select “No, Not at this time” & click on Next button. Now you will be asked for User name of this computer.
Enter user name of this computer in blank space of “Your name”. You can provide here 2 or 3 or more then user. Now click Next button.
Clicking on the Finish button your Windows Xp setup will copleate, and finally you will enter the window of windows xp like below screen.
Now you can install your necessary software as you like best and enjoy Windows xp.
